Since our beautiful, whimsical crystal jewellery pieces are designed to work passed down between generations, it is really important you look after these treasures with as much care as we put into designing them.

Quick Tip: Your jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.

WEARING CRYSTAL MY JEWELLERY

Whilst many factors cause wear and tear in your jewellery, start with these simple rules whilst flaunting your jewels
  • Put your jewellery on after clothes and take it off before you take off your clothes.
Doing this will avoid accidental snagging, scratches & breakages etc.
Also DON'T FORGET your jewellery is particularly susceptible to damage from effects of harsh chemicals found in perfumes, hairspray, lotions, makeup, body oils and more.
REMOVE jewellery if you are likely to cause exposure to chemicals or fluids (see more below).

HOW TO CLEAN AND STORE MY CRYSTAL JEWELLERY

One of the most important rituals to give your jewellery the long life it deserves.
  • Always store your jewellery individually - particularly with the heavily enamelled pieces and the gemstones.
  • Use a tissue paper lined box or the box your Butler & Wilson goodies came in at home to protect your little creations.
  • MAKE SURE you are not storing pieces in humidity or heat or light - particularly gold vermeil and silver jewellery should be kept away from these conditions.
In exceptional circumstances clean jewellery with mild washing liquid and warm water and rinse thoroughly.
ONLY use dry cloth cleaning on porous stones (i.e Turquoise)

TRICKS TO STOP DULLNESS OR EROSION

  • DO NOT keep jewellery in direct sunlight as exposure to sunlight over a period of time can cause many gemstones to fade and lose their colour. Amethyst and quartz, are just some of the gemstones that can become dulled from exposure to sunlight.
TAKE OFF jewellery before contact with water - through swimming, bathing, washing etc. Liquid and oils can get through the tiny cracks in crystals causing permanent colour damage.
